Mono .NET test on Ubuntu

A while ago I wrote about Mono running Microsoft .Net on Linux. I recently installed it. It worked well from the very basic test I ran. I would like to see it trialled on a full system in a production environment.

Here is a screen shot of the success.

Mono puts Microsoft .Net Framework on Linux and OSX

November 20, 2007 1 comment

I’ve been very nose deep into open source technologies the last year working hard on some projects with Technovated and now recently Kindo. I was reading a recent email from a friend in the Microsoft world and they had been recommended Mono. Imagine my surprise to see the .Net Framework running on Linux, OSX, BSD, and Solaris.

“Mono is a software platform designed to allow developers to easily create cross platform applications. It is an open source implementation of Microsoft’s .Net Framework based on the ECMA standards for C# and the Common Language Runtime. We feel that by embracing a successful, standardized software platform, we can lower the barriers to producing great applications for Linux.”

Taken from ‘What is Mono‘.

I clearly need to do a bit more technology reading.
